CHICAGO — A 10-year-old boy escaped two men who tried to kidnap him in Chatham, police said.

The incident happened Thursday but police released a sketch of the man Sunday night.

At 7 a.m., the boy was taking out the trash at the back of his home in the 8200 block of South Perry Avenue when two men in a car drove up to him, according to a Chicago Police community alert. The men got out of the car and grabbed the boy.

The boy was able to get away and ran back into his home, police said. He wasn’t harmed and the men drove off.

One of the men was described as being 20-30 years old with a light brown complexion and wearing a hooded sweatshirt and navy blue pants, police said. The other man, who was driving, was 50-60 years old. They were in an older four-door gray car.

Anyone with information about the attempted kidnapping was asked to call police at 312-747-8271.
