DOWNTOWN — Chicagoans will be able to experience circus acts, drag shows and more in the Loop’s alleys this summer.

The Chicago Loop Alliance will host the event series, called ACTIVATE: Backstage, as a way to “celebrate the role theater has played in the Loop’s success,” according to a news release. The events will be themed, with each focusing on different elements of the performing arts: circus, drag, lighting and stage design, and comedy.

Attendees will be able to grab drinks, watch performances (and participate in some) and see art exhibits at each event.

Events will take place 5-10 p.m. June 6, July 18, Aug. 22 and Sept. 26 in alleys behind Loop theaters. The exact locations will be revealed closer to the event dates.

Attendees who RSVP online will receive a drink ticket for beer, wine or a cocktail.
