CHICAGO — The White Sox have postponed their home opener to Friday.

The team, which had been set to play the Mariners on Thursday at Guaranteed Rate Field, announced the rescheduling Wednesday. The Sox and Mariners will now face off starting 1:10 p.m. Friday.

The move was made because of expected bad weather Thursday, the team said. Thursday is expected to be rainy, cloudy and windy with a high temperature of just 42 degrees.

No rain is expected Friday, but the day is expected to be mostly cloudy with a high of 49 degrees.

No exchanges will be necessary as tickets, parking passes and Stadium Club passes for Thursday’s game will still be good for Friday, according to the team.

Parking lots will open at 10 a.m. and gates open at 11 a.m.
