NORTH PARK — The two candidates seeking to replace retiring Ald. Margaret Laurino (39th) will square off at a forum Wednesday at Peterson Elementary School.
Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and attendees are being asked to enter the school at 5510 N. Christiana Ave. by using the main entrance at North Christina and West Catalpa avenues.
In the Feb. 26 election, Samantha “Sam” Nugent won 33.20 percent of the vote while Robert Murphy won 29.56 percent of the vote, according to the Chicago Board of Elections. Nugent and Murphy are now competing against each other for the Northwest Side ward’s vote.

Nugent, an attorney, was the director of executive engagement for the American Board of Medical Specialties and also served as a former chief of staff for Cook County’s Office of Emergency Management and Communications.
She faces Murphy, an architect and the current 39th Ward Democratic committeeman.
