CHICAGO — A burglar is breaking into Beverly bars and liquor stores, police said.
During three recent incidents, the burglar threw chunks of concrete through the windows of bars and liquor stores, then went inside or reached through the windows and took money, alcohol and cigarettes, according to a Chicago Police business alert.
The burglaries occurred:
- 1:30 a.m. March 10 in the 10000 block of South Western Avenue
- 11 p.m. Friday in the 10000 block of South Western Avenue
- 6:30 a.m. Monday in the 10300 block of South Western Avenue
The burglar was caught on surveillance video and appeared to be a 30- to 40-year-old black man who wore glasses, police said. He had a short beard and wore a New York Yankees baseball hat and black winter coat. He hung around the front of the business for five to 10 minutes before breaking in.
