RIVER NORTH — A Sound Bar employee was shot to death early Friday during a fight outside the River North club.
At 12:10 a.m., the employee, a 28-year-old man, and a 58-year-old man who is associated with the club got into a fight with about 15 people near an alley in the 600 block of North Franklin Street, police said. Sound Bar is at 226 W. Ontario St.
One of the people they were fighting took out a gun and fired shots, police said. The 28-year-old man was hit multiple times and he was taken to Northwestern Hospital.
Thurman Bailey, of the 3000 block of South Michigan Avenue, was pronounced dead at 1:04 a.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office.
The 58-year-old man took himself to Northwestern Hospital because he had bullet fragments in one of his legs and one of his arms. His condition was not available but he was listed as “stable,” police said.
The gunman was wearing a green, puffy jacket and a black hat, police said. No one was in custody.
An investigation was ongoing.
