BEVERLY — It’s going to be another cold week ahead, but don’t let that stop you: put on your Snuggie and order some Rainbow Cone to enjoy on your couch.
Original Rainbow Cone, 9233 S. Western Ave., opened for the season Friday despite the colder-than-average temps. But the wildly popular ice cream shop that’s been in the neighborhood for 93 years started offering delivery through Door Dash last month.
Currently, you must live within 4.25 miles of the store to get a quart or pint of ice cream delivered. Cakes are also available.

“We have had some orders coming through despite the weather,” Rainbow Cone manager Bryan Feltman said in an email. “I think people are hoping to trick themselves into thinking it is spring! We expect it to continue to grow as the weather turns.”
Customers from throughout the area flock to the pink storefront, where lines sometimes stretch down the block in Beverly.
Rainbow Cone is known for its signature combination of chocolate, strawberry, Palmer House, pistachio and orange sherbet jammed into a cone.
The ice cream is sliced into segments and layered atop the cone rather than scooped.
The shop is open noon to 7 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday; noon to 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday and noon to 7 p.m. Sunday.
