SOUTH LOOP — A shooting at the South Loop’s “Tent City” left a 57-year-old man dead Monday afternoon, police said.

At 4:45 p.m., officers were called to state property near the 700 block of West Taylor Street for a report of a shooting, State Police said in a news release.

The victim and another man, both of whom were living on the embankment off the Dan Ryan Expressway, had gotten into an argument and the victim was shot shortly after, police said.

The man was taken to a hospital in critical condition. Douglas Robinson was pronounced dead at 6:28 p.m., according to Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office records.

A person of interest was in custody, police said. An investigation was ongoing.
