CHICAGO — A 16-year-old boy was shot dead Sunday night in Pilsen, just hours after a 14-year-old was critically wounded in a shooting in nearby Little Village, police said.
At 9:45 p.m., the 16-year-old boy was driving a car in the 2000 block of South Canalport Avenue when he stopped at a red light and someone pulled alongside him, police said. A person in the other car fired shots, hitting the boy in his head.
The boy drove into an embankment. He was taken to Stroger Hospital in critical condition and was later pronounced dead, police said.
Earlier in the day, at 1:50 p.m., a 14-year-old boy was a passenger in a car when the driver stopped in the 2200 block of South Albany Avenue, police said. Someone in another car fired shots, hitting the boy in his right eye.
The boy was taken to Stroger Hospital in critical condition, police said.
No one was in custody in the shootings. Investigations were ongoing.
