CHICAGO — A 1-year-old boy was shot and critically wounded Thursday in Washington Heights, police said.
At 5:30 p.m., the boy and four other people were in a parked car in the 9900 block of South Throop Street when someone in a dark-colored car pulled up alongside them, police said. Either someone in the dark-colored car or someone walking nearby fired shots, hitting the boy in his head.
A family member took the boy to Little Company of Mary Hospital, where he was in critical condition, police said. He was transferred to Comer Children’s Hospital.
Father Michael Pfleger said the St. Sabina community is offering a $13,500 reward for information leading to the arrest of the shooter.
No one was in custody. An investigation was ongoing.
