CHICAGO — An adoption event this weekend will help cats find love — and homes — ahead of Valentine’s Day.

Touched by an Animal, a cat rescue, is hosting an adoption event where prospective owners can meet with cats in need of a home. Touched by an Animal is an organization that finds permanent families for homeless cats and helps people who are elderly or who have disabilities care for their pets.

Those who adopt a cat at the event will receive a free “startup kit,” which includes cat food, treats, a toy, a coupon for free litter and a temporary litter box, organizers said.

The adoption event is 1-4 p.m. Sunday at the Bucktown Bow and Meow, 1647 W. Cortland St.

A fundraiser for the rescue is 6-8 p.m. Feb. 13 at Wishbone Restaurant, 3300 N. Lincoln Ave. RSVP by emailing Touched by an Animal at tba@touchedbyananimal.org. The fundraiser will include a silent auction with food and drinks.
