HUMBOLDT PARK — Candidates in the 26th Ward will share their visions for the ward at a forum this week.
The forum, hosted by United Blocks of Humboldt Park, is set for 6:30-8 p.m. Thursday at Association House of Chicago, 1116 N. Kedzie Ave.
Maldonado has held the seat since 2009; then-Mayor Richard M. Daley appointed him to replace Billy Ocasio. Before becoming alderman, Maldonado served as a Cook County Board member. When he was younger, he worked as a psychologist for Chicago Public Schools and ran a mortgage-banking firm.
David Herrera is a local developer who has worked in municipal finance and real estate development for the last 13 years. Herrera’s family is originally from the East Humboldt Park/Ukrainian Village area. You can read more about him here.
Siaw is the director of OMNI Healthcare, a medical clinic with a dozen locations, including one on Division Street in Humboldt Park. She is also a philanthropist who makes a habit of donating to local schools. More on Siaw here.
The municipal election is Feb. 26. If no candidate in an aldermanic race receives a majority of votes, they’ll head to a runoff election April 2.
