GREATER GRAND CROSSING — A drive-by shooting outside a nightclub left two men dead and five others injured early Sunday, police said.

The incident began just before 2 a.m. inside Reynold’s Lounge, 938 E. 75th St., according to police. After a fight that started inside the bar spilled outside, someone in a silver four-door Ford pulled up and opened fire upon the group, police said.

Activist Andrew Holmes said he’s spoken to the families of Marvin Powell, 36, and Jeremy Carothers, 39, who were killed in the incident. He is urging anyone who may have witnessed the shooting or have any information about the shooter to come forward.

“Police are still looking for surveillance footage to determine what happened,” Holmes said. “And they’re looking to interview witnesses with any information related to the incident.”

Police said it is unclear whether the slain and wounded victims were the intended targets.

The five injured include an 18 year-old man shot in the shoulder; a 36-year-old man shot in the back who is still in critical condition at Advocate Christ Hospital in Oak Lawn; a 33-year-old woman grazed in the arm; a 36-year-old woman who was shot in her foot and a 35-year-old woman, also grazed in her foot.

Holmes called on anyone with information to call 1-800-U-TELL-US, an anonymous tip line, if they are afraid to speak with police directly.
