LOGAN SQUARE — Chicago could get up to 14 inches of snow this weekend — and Logan Square is prepared.
For the fourth year in a row, local businesses and groups are teaming up to pay for snow removal in and around the square leading to the Logan Square Blue Line station. The cost is between $2,600 to $4,000 for the season, depending on the snowfall.
Andrew Schneider, president of Logan Square Preservation, the organization leading the effort, said neighbors can expect the plows to come out anytime snowfall exceeds two inches.
“This program is based on voluntary donations and funds from LSP,” Schneider said in a written statement. “It’s gratifying that each year so many businesses are willing to step up and help fund this initiative which positively impacts the commute of many thousands of people each winter.”
This year’s sponsors include R.P. Fox, Logan Square Auditorium, Reno, Play, Alds. Scott Waguespack (32nd) and Carlos Ramirez-Rosa (35th), the Logan Square Chamber of Commerce, The Walk-In and and new bar/restaurant The Whale.
