CHICAGO — A man tried repeatedly to lure two girls into his car Thursday in South Shore, police said.

At 8:30 a.m., the girls were walking in the 7800 block of South South Shore Drive when a man began following them in his car, according to a Chicago Police community alert. He continuously offered the girls a ride and then drove away.

At one point, the man drove off and then returned with a boy or man in his passenger seat, police said. The two people in the car asked the girls if they wanted a ride again.

The driver was a white man in his 50s with a thick, brown beard and little hair on his head, police said. He wore a black shirt and was driving a brown minivan with its back windows tinted. The back of the minivan’s passenger side was damaged.

Anyone with information about the incident was asked to call police at 312-747-8271.
