WEST LOOP — Another big name is set to carve out some office space in Fulton Market later this year: Coca-Cola.
McCaffery Interests announced Coca-Cola has leased office space in their yet-to-be-completed Twelve01West development at 1201 W. Lake St. The beverage giant will relocate employees into a 7,364-square-foot office space in the building later this year, said Heather Skomba, McCaffery’s senior director of marketing.
Twelve01West, a seven-story, 150,000-square-foot development at the corner of Lake and Racine is expected to be completed early this year. Each floor totals 24,000 square feet, and Coca-Cola would lease about one-third of a floor, Skomba said.
Coca-Cola spokesman Kevin Morris said the number of employees moving into the office space had not been finalized. They will relocate from other Coca-Cola offices, including some employees who now work in Downers Grove.
“Investing in our Chicago footprint will allow us to better support our customers and our bottling partner, Great Lakes Coca-Cola Bottling Co.,” Morris said.
Clayton McCaffery, senior managing director of acquisitions and development at McCaffery, said the location makes sense for companies like Coca-Cola because of its proximity to public transportation. The Morgan Green Line stop is a few blocks away on Lake Street.
“The development is essentially a gateway into the neighborhood,” McCaffery said.
Crain’s was the first to report Coca-Cola’s agreement to rent office space in Fulton Market.
Last fall, Heritage Bicycles announced it rented ground floor retail space at Twelve01 West. Owners plan to open the bicycle and coffee shop in February.
