CHICAGO — A woman was raped at gunpoint Tuesday night in Burnside, police said.
At 6:30 p.m., the woman, 29, was walking under a viaduct in the 9400 block of South Woodlawn Avenue when a man walked up to her and asked for money, according to a Chicago Police community alert. The woman told him she didn’t have any.
That’s when the man took out a short-barreled revolver and forced the woman to the top of the railroad tracks, where he sexually assaulted her and threatened to kill her, police said.
The attacker was described as a 20- to 25-year-old black man who was 5-foot-6 to 5-foot-8, 140-160 pounds and had brown eyes, police said. He wore a black half-face mask, black hooded sweatshirt and dark-colored pants.
The man was last seen running south on top of the viaduct, police said.
Anyone with information about the attack was asked to call police at 312-747-8271.
