SOUTH LOOP — The South Loop is getting the city’s first Chick-fil-A with a drive-thru window, according to reports.

The new Chick-fil-A will open at 1113 S. Jefferson St. with a two-lane drive-thru, a move approved by the city’s Zoning Board of Appeals last week. Chick-fil-A is a fast food restaurant that specializes in chicken sandwiches with sides like waffle fries.

The Real Deal’s Alex Nitkin reports the restaurant will be 5,000 square feet and is on a lot GW Properties bought for $10.4 million in June. The company is also redeveloping a gas station at that property into a 7-Eleven and building a 10,000-square-foot retail spot.

The new Chick-fil-A will be just minutes away from the South Loop Portillo’s, 520 W. Taylor St.

GW Properties could not immediately be reached for comment.
