CHICAGO — BomboBar is expanding with a full eatery in Old Town this spring.

Known for doughnuts, sandwiches and decadent gelato and hot chocolate, the West Loop’s BomboBar plans to open its second location in the 1,500-square-foot building that once held Buzz Bait Taqueria, 1529 N. Wells St. The opening is tentatively scheduled for the spring.

The second BomboBar will have the same menu as the original, serving up savory options like a breakfast sandwich and burger and sweets like gelato and doughnuts. Beer and wine will be available.

The Old Town restaurant will have seating for 30 people inside and a patio will fit 20 people.

“Our larger Old Town location will be more comfortable for our guests and will make it easier for them to enjoy our savory menu items,” said David Rekhson, principal and partner of DineAmic, in a statement. DineAmic is a restaurant group that operates BomboBar.

The original BomboBar is built into the side of Bar Siena, 832 W. Randolph St. Customers walk up to a window to order and there’s limited outside seating.
