CHICAGO — A woman was able to escape a man who tried to abduct her Sunday night in Bronzeville, police said.
At 9:55 p.m., the 24-year-old woman was walking in the 300 block of East Pershing Road when someone got out of a white work van and picked her up from behind, according to a Chicago Police community alert. The man tried to drag the woman to the van, where a second person was sitting in the driver’s seat.
The woman resisted and broke free, police said. The man then got into the van and the driver drove west on East Pershing Road.
The attacker was described as a 6-foot-3 man wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, police said. No description of the driver was available.
Anyone with information about the attempted abduction was asked to call police at 312-747-8380.
