PORTAGE PARK — Police issued a community alert after a rash of tire and rim thefts in Portage Park this month.
The cars had their rims and tires removed during the overnight hours while they were parked on the street. After the tires and rims were removed, the cars were left resting on cinder blocks, police said.
The thefts happened in the:
• 6100 Block of West Roscoe Street between 8 p.m. Dec. 4 and 9 a.m. Dec. 4
• 3200 Block of North Natoma Avenue at 1 a.m. Dec. 4
• 5800 Block of West Newport Avenue on Dec. 4 at 3:30 a.m.
• 4800 Block of West Belle Plaine Avenue at about 4:30 a.m. Dec. 5
• 4900 Block of West Argyle Street between 9 p.m. Dec. 6 and 7:18 a.m. Dec. 7
