Burglary Scam Reported In Albany Park And Irving Park, Police Say

The scam involved a group of people who told the victim that they were there to perform repairs on a building, police said.

IRVING PARK — Police issued a community alert after a burglary scam was reported at three homes in Albany Park and Irving Park. 

The scam involved a group of people who told the victim that they were there to perform repairs on the building. Once inside, one of the burglars asked to be shown what needed to be repaired while the other burglars stole personal property from other rooms in the home, police said. 

These burglaries happened in the:

• 5300 Block of North Bernard Street on at 3 p.m. Nov. 20

• 3400 Block of West Montrose Avenue at 6:20 p.m. Dec. 4

• 3500 block of West Berteau Avenue at 2 p.m. Dec. 7

Police described the one burglars as a man standing about five foot six and between 150 or 200 pounds. The burglars also reportedly drove a beige pick-up truck, police said.
