CHICAGO — A man broke into a woman’s Wrigleyville apartment and attacked her Monday afternoon, police said.
At 3:36 p.m., the woman, 29, was inside her apartment in the 900 block of West Cornelia Avenue when a man got into the complex and then went inside her home, police said.
The man put the woman in a headlock but she was able to get away and go to another room, where she called 911, police said. The man ransacked her apartment and grabbed a butcher knife from the kitchen.
The man left the apartment, but officers responding to the woman’s call saw him in the street with a knife, police said. The man tried to run away and officers used a Taser on him.
The man was taken to Illinois Masonic Hospital. His condition was not immediately available. He was placed into custody and charges were pending, police said.
The woman was not injured.
Just a day earlier and blocks away, another woman was sleeping in her Lakeview home when a man broke in and hit her with a wine bottle and porcelain dish during a separate robbery, police said.
It was not immediately clear if the incidents were connected.
