CHICAGO — The folks behind a “Golden Girls” pop-up should be thanking all of Chicago for being a friend: the cooking class themed around the show sold out multiple times.
The pop-up class proved so popular that its host, Get in the Kitchen, sold out of its Dec. 7 dinner — and then added more dates only to sell out again. It’s now added another two “Golden Girls” cooking class parties on Feb. 2 and 8, but those will be the last dates for the series.
The cooking class will feature a full dinner, a demonstration of how to make pierogi, trivia, karaoke and party games — all of it themed around the classic show.
“Golden Girls,” which ran 1985-1992, focused on the lives of four sassy older women played by Bea Arthur, Betty White, Rue McClanahan and Estelle Getty.
To follow the theme, the event’s dinner menu will include items like Stanley Zbornak’s toasted pierogi in honor of Dorothy’s husband, Rose’s St. Olaf salad and Big Daddy’s beef short rib for Blanche’s father, who everyone calls “Big Daddy.”
The final classes are 7 p.m. Feb. 2 and 7 p.m. Feb. 8 at Get in the Kitchen, 3617 N. Broadway. Tickets are $79 and are available online.
