CHICAGO — The Art Institute is asking Chicagoans to come together to recreate a historic photo for its 125th anniversary.
The 1893 photo shows a crowd of people gathered in front of the then-new Art Institute. The museum is hoping Chicagoans will gather Saturday with their loved ones to take a new, similar photo.
“Don’t miss your chance to be a part of this special morning, surrounded by the Art Institute of Chicago community,” the Art Institute wrote on its website. “The photo will be added to museum archives, preserving this moment for another 125 years and beyond.”
The event is 10-10:30 a.m. Saturday outside the Art Institute, 111 S. Michigan Ave. People who require an accessibility accommodation can call 312-499-4111 or email access@artic.edu.
