Burglar Breaking Into North Side Businesses By Smashing Doors With Bricks, Concrete

CHICAGO — Five Uptown and Ravenswood businesses have been hit by a burglar or burglars since the end of November, police said.

The burglar or burglars have gotten into the businesses by smashing glass doors with bricks and pieces of concrete, according to a Chicago Police business alert. Once inside, the burglar smashed cash registers against the ground, breaking them open, and stole money from inside.

The burglaries occurred:

• Between 3 p.m. Nov. 22 and 9 a.m. Nov. 23 in the 5100 block of North Broadway in Uptown
• 3:15 a.m. Wednesday in the 1900 block of West Lawrence Avenue in Ravenswood
• 4 a.m. Thursday in the 4800 block of North Broadway in Uptown
• 11 p.m. Friday in the 5000 block of North Broadway in Uptown
• 3:42 a.m. Saturday in the 1000 block of West Argyle Street in Uptown
