CHICAGO — A 57-year-old woman was raped while walking to the Red Line Sunday in Grand Crossing by a masked man under a viaduct, police said.

At 3:30 a.m., the woman was walking under the viaduct on 78th Street between Wallace and Fielding avenues when a man in a ski mask came up to her, according to a Chicago Police community alert. The man threatened to kill the woman and sexually assaulted her.

Afterward, the man stole the woman’s bank cards, her ID and money, police said.

The man was black, 6-foot to 6-foot-3 and 200-220 pounds with brown eyes, police said. He wore a red ski mask, a denim jacket with a white, fur-lined collar and black pants. He had a knife that was 6 to 8 inches long with a brass knuckle-type grip.

The attacker was last seen going on 78th Street from Fielding Avenue, police said.

Anyone with information about the attack was asked to call police at 312-747-8271.
