CHICAGO — A man tried to lure a 16-year-old girl into a stolen moving van Tuesday near Skinner Park in the West Loop, officials said.
At 5:10 p.m., the girl was walking north in the 100 block of South Laflin Street when a man in a car honked his horn at her, according to a Chicago Police community alert. The man motioned at the girl and then drove alongside her.
The girl ran away from the car, going south, and the driver continued to go north on Laflin Street, police said.
The man was Hispanic and in his late 20s to early 30s, police said. He wore dark clothing and was driving an orange Midway Moving van.
The man was not an employee of Midway Moving, and the van had been stolen, a company representative said.
Anyone with information about the incident was asked to call police at 312-747-8380.
