Families from Little Village, McKinley Park and Brighton Park will be eligible to receive a turkey, and other food items to help complete their Thanksgiving meals.

The giveaway was made possible after Cardenas and businesses across the 12th Ward raised more than $40,000. The funds raised allowed his offices to provide more than 2,000 turkeys families in need.

Last year, Cardenas raised enough money to pass out 1,000 turkeys to families in need.

The alderman worked with youth across his ward to help make calls, stuff bags and load supplies ahead of the turkey giveaway.

“Giving back is among the most important and valuable things a community can do,” Cardenas said.
