CHICAGO — A 33-year-old man was shot dead late Thursday in West Ridge.
At 10:58 p.m. Thursday, the man was standing on a back porch in the 6100 block of North Talman Avenue when two people walked up to him and fired shots, police said.
He was hit in his back and taken to St. Francis Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.
The man was identified as Ali Khabab, of the same block where he was killed, in Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office records. Khabab was pronounced dead at 12:08 a.m. Friday.
Khabab was born in South Sudan but left for Chicago about 15 years ago in search of educational opportunities, according to the Tribune.
No one was in custody. An investigation was ongoing.
