CHICAGO — Tow truck drivers have been robbed while responding to calls for help twice in Englewood, police said.
During the robberies, a tow truck company was called to have a car towed, according to a Chicago Police community alert. When the driver arrived to tow the car, one person distracted him or her while two people with guns walked out of a gangway and held up the driver.
The robbers, a group of three boys or men, took money, wallets and cellphones from the tow truck drivers, police said. They ran away after the robberies.
The robberies occurred:
• 3:54 p.m. Oct. 31 in the 7100 block of South Morgan Street
• 5:20 p.m. Sunday in the 7100 block of South May Street
The robbers were described as three black boys or men who were 15-21 years old, 5-foot-8 to 5-foot-10 and 140-160 pounds, police said. They might wear masks.
