DOWNTOWN — Radio station 93.9 LITE FM will start playing nonstop Christmas music on Thursday, a full 47 days before the holiday.

The station, which traditionally plays all-holiday music from November through December, announced the start of its holiday music Wednesday. The nonstop cheer will kick off at 4:05 p.m. Thursday.

The station will bring back its holiday mascot, Edison the Reindeer, according to media writer Robert Feder, who first reported when the music would start.

The earliest the station has launched its 24/7 Christmas music was Nov. 2 in 2006 and 2007, Feder noted.

“We are thrilled to be Chicago’s home for holiday music and this year, listeners will find amazing contests and a few new surprises along with the Yuletide cheer we bring to Chicagoland every year,” Mick Lee, a program director and radio personality at the station, told Feder.
