SOUTH LOOP — A festival for comedy films will bring laughs to the South Loop this weekend.
The Chicago Comedy Film Festival at Columbia College will feature everything from low-budget to studio-quality comedies, according to the event’s website. The three-day festival starts Friday and will feature a variety of shorts, films and an after party before ending with an awards ceremony.
The festival will kick off with a showing of “Care to Laugh” at 6 p.m. Friday. The 77-minute documentary follows stand-up comedian Jesus Trejo as he juggles caring for his parents — his mother is recovering after the removal of a brain tumor; his father has colon cancer — with trying to pursue his dream. Trejo will perform after the documentary airs.
The festival is Friday-Sunday at Columbia College. A full schedule is available online. Tickets are required for events and they can be bought online.
