DOWNTOWN — Christkindlmarket is kicking its trademark boot mugs to the curb this year.
The holiday festival, which opens Nov. 16, will instead have mugs shaped like gingerbread hearts in honor of this year’s theme, “Ich liebe Christkindlmarket” (or “I love Christkindlmarket”), according to the festival.
The mug design will feature the city’s skyline as a backdrop to the Christkindlmarket.
Suburban Naperville and Milwaukee, which also host Christkindlmarkets, will get their own mugs with similar designs. Collectors can nab a three-pack of the mugs for $20 (one from each city); otherwise, individual mugs will only be sold in their respective cities.
The Kinder Club mug will be designed to look like a grandma (or “oma”) snowman, finishing a collection of Kinder Club mugs designed to look like a family of snowmen, according to the festival.
Christkindlmarket runs Nov. 16-Dec. 24 at Daley Plaza, 50 W. Washington St. It’ll be open 11 a.m.-8 p.m. Sunday-Thursday and 11 a.m.-9 p.m. Friday-Saturday.
The festival will be open 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve.
