CHICAGO —  Orangetheory fitness studios across the country — and in Chicago — will be giving first-time visitors a free workout throughout the day on Sunday.

The occasion? Utilizing the “extra” hour gained as clocks roll back an hour to mark the end of daylight savings time in the U.S. and Canada.

According to an Orangetheory news release, having “no time” is the number one excuse people make for not working out, yet U.S. adults now spend an average of 6 hours a day watching video and 11 hours a day consuming media.

Classes can be booked online at www.the25thhour.com.

There are 13 Orangetheory studios in Chicago neighborhoods and another five in the suburbs, according to the chain’s website. The nearest spots to Wicker Park/Bucktown are an Orangetheory at 1643 W. North Ave. which opened in 2015, 2251 N Milwaukee Ave. in Logan Square, 2209 N. Halsted St. in Lincoln Park and 1513 N. Wells St. in Old Town.

The studio chain sets itself apart by strapping heart monitors to members and tracking their heart rates on a central leader board during workouts.

As an added perk, RXBAR, a “clean-label” snack brand that list all of its ingredients on the package will provide free protein bars to those who use their “25th hour” to take a class, according to the news release.
