WEST LOOP — Heritage Bicycles is set to open a new shop early next year in Fulton Market.
The bicycle and coffee shop will open at 1201 W. Lake St. in late February, shop owner Michael Salvatore said.
Salvatore is leasing a ground floor spot at developer McCaffery Interests’ new Twelve01West development on the corner of Lake and Racine. The seven-story development is expected to be completed in early 2019.
The shop owner signed a lease with McCaffery a month ago and is in the process of creating a floor plan and layout.
Ahead of the West Loop location, Heritage Bicycles will soon open other locations at 676 N. Lasalle St. in River North and 300 S. Wacker Drive in the Loop. The popular shop also has outposts in Lakeview and Uptown.
The 1,778 square feet space will include bicycle merchandise, a bicycle repair and service area, alongside Heritage coffee and select breakfast items from their kitchen, owner Salvatore said.
Patrons can expect savory breakfast items and upscale coffee offerings at the Fulton Market location, he added.
The owner said the design will be similar to their Heritage General Store in Lakeview, but will make use of the high ceilings to showcase their bicycle merchandise.
Salvatore envisions that hybrid bicycle and coffee shop will become an “asset to the neighborhood.”
