NOBLE SQUARE — Two different businesses on the same Noble Square block across from the Polish Triangle were burglarized on the same weekend by a man who claimed to have a gun, according to police.
On Sunday, Shakespeare (14th) District police issued an alert to business owners to notify them of the aggravated robberies that happened on Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 20 and 21, in the 1200 block of North Milwaukee Avenue.
In one incident, an unknown man entered a businesses at 4:52 p.m. Oct. 21 and looked at the merchandise displayed for sale. Police said the store’s clerk challenged the man since he recognized him from a previous shoplifting incident.
In another incident at 3:22 p.m. on Oct. 20, the man demanded cash from the cash register.

In both incidents, the man implied that he had a gun but did not display the weapon, police said. An unknown amount of cash and merchandise were taken in both robberies, police said.
The alleged robber is described as a black man, between the ages of 30-60, standing 5-foot-9 to 5-foot-11. He was wearing a skull cap, dark jacket and dark jeans in both robberies.
