LOGAN SQUARE — A man tried to lure a young boy during his school’s recess last week, according to police.
The attempted luring happened around 11:30 a.m. Oct. 18 at the boy’s school, Mozart Elementary, in the 2200 block of North Hamlin Avenue.
The boy was at recess when a man driving a small, gray four-door SUV with tinted windows called out to the boy and then offered him candy, according to a police-issued alert.
Police said the boy replied, “No thank you.” The man then tried to take a cell phone picture of the boy but the child covered his face, ran inside his school and reported the incident to his counselor, according to the alert.
Police described the man as being white, between 30 and 40 years of age, having short brown hair that was spiked and wearing a black jacket.
Principal Sonia Caban, head of Mozart Elementary, didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment.
