DOWNTOWN — There are now more places to vote early in the city.

Early voting and in-person voter registration is now available at 51 spots across Chicago, according to a news release from the Board of Election Commissioners.

“The first week of Early Voting is always the best for beating the traffic,” said Election Board Chairwoman Marisel Hernandez, according to a news release. “Lines get longer in the second week.”

Hernandez also advised voters to look at a sample ballot before coming to the polls and creating a “cheat sheet” they can bring with to help them with voting.

Those who are registering to vote or updating their registration with a name or address change have to bring two forms of ID, including one which shows the person’s current address. Registration and voting can take place during the same visit to a polling place.

Voting sites will be open 9 a.m-5 p.m. Monday-Saturday and 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Sundays. They’ll be open weeknight hours starting Oct. 29.

Early voting will be available through Nov. 5, the day before Election Day. Some sites will have extended hours on Nov. 5.
