DOWNTOWN — This Thursday is officially Al’s Beef Day, and it’s celebrating by giving customers a discount on its signature sandwiches.
The citywide holiday will commemorate the 80th anniversary of Al’s Italian Beef, which opened in 1938 as a stand at Laflin and Harrison streets in Little Italy. City Council is marking the milestone with a resolution honoring the chain as a “cherished institution,” and Al’s Beef plans to thank its customers by offering 80-cent sandwiches on Thursday.
Regular-sized Italian beef sandwiches will be available for a discounted 80 cents 11 a.m.-7 p.m. Thursday at all Al’s Beef locations in and around Chicago. The discount will only apply to one sandwich per person and per transaction.
Customers must like Al’s Beef on Facebook or follow Al’s Beef on Twitter and Instagram to redeem the offer.
