WEST LOOP — After eight years in Fulton Market, The Mid nightclub will close its doors this winter.
Citing the “recent expansion in the West Loop and Fulton Market District,” Mid co-owners Lucas King and Nick Karounos announced this week that they would close the doors of the nightclub at 306 N. Halsted St. on Feb. 5, 2019.
The Mid opened in 2010, and hosted a wide array of DJs, bands, rappers and dance music acts including Tiesto, Skrillex, Diplo, Calvin Harris, Kaskade, Derrick Carter, Green Velvet, Laurent Garnier, Ice Cube and more.
The owners will bid farewell with one final party dubbed “One Last Song,” and are expected to unveil their final lineup of “official closing parties” soon.
“These last remaining months will be a celebration of the past and a toast to the future,” the owners wrote on Facebook.“We want to thank all the fans, artists, employees, agents, managers, and promoters who have supported us throughout this era.”
King and Karounos said they plan to open new venues in Chicago in the near future.
“It’s been an incredible run to say the least but now it’s time to turn the page as we raise our glasses to what will be the end of an era, and the beginning of our next chapter,” the post read.
The owners could not immediately be reached Friday.
