DOWNTOWN — A panel of powerful women will speak about how Chicagoans can get a woman president elected during an upcoming event.

The event is part of a book launch for author Rebecca Sive’s “Vote Her In: Your Guide to Electing Our First Woman President.” A group of women will talk about women’s leadership in business and political spheres and what power they have to shape policy, according to a news release.

The panel will feature the book’s author, Sive; Kim Foxx, the Cook County state’s attorney; MacArthur Foundation President Julia Stasch; Dorri McWhorter, CEO of YWCA of Metropolitan Chicago; and K. Sujata, president of the Chicago Foundation for Women.

Sive will sign copies of her book at the event, and attendees will be able to buy copies while there. “Vote Her In” encourages Americans to elect a woman president in 2020 and examines how women can play a part in that effort.

“Sive convincingly demonstrates that the best strategy for creating a country of equal opportunity and justice for everyone is to shatter this glass ceiling and demonstrate to every American woman and girl who dreams of leadership that she really can be anyone and do anything,” according to a news release from the YWCA and Chicago Foundation for Women.

The event is 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at WeWork, 20 W. Kinzie St. Registration is available online with a suggested donation of $20 per person.
