CHICAGO — A 73-year-old man was shot to death in Rogers Park on Sunday while walking his dogs.
At 10:07 a.m., the man was found dead in the 1400 block of West Sherwin Avenue, police said. He had been shot once in his head.
The man might have been shot during a robbery, police said.
The man’s identity had not yet been confirmed by the Medical Examiner’s office as of Monday morning, although neighbors identified him as their 73-year-old neighbor.
Lynda Kaplan told WGN-TV she found her neighbor dead.
“I later came out to find my neighbor of five years face down in the middle of the street dead. He was out walking his dogs, and he was shot execution-style,” Kaplan said. “It was a senseless murder.”
No one was in custody and an investigation was ongoing.
