ROGERS PARK — As Empirical Brewery looks for an investor or buyer for its Rogers Park brew pub, the pub’s landlord is listing the site for lease as early as next week, touting its “1930’s-era art deco splendor.”
Empirical Brewery’s management announced on Sept. 24 that their brewpub at 1330 W. Morse Ave. would close without a new buyer or investor. The move would not impact its popular Ravenswood tap room.
Empirical’s management said rent played no role in the choice to potentially shutter the Roger’s Park location. Instead, they cited the small company’s “limited resources and bandwidth ” as it expands its beer distribution in Chicago.
On Monday, Empirical’s management was not immediately available to answer if a new buyer or investor had reached out to them to keep the Rogers Park space open.
“We wish Empirical success in their future endeavors,” said Kimberlee Carr, director of Tawani Property Management, which manages the property.
“Tawani Enterprises and Tawani Property Management are invested in the community and will be working to fill the storefront space with a long-term tenant that will bring new value to the neighborhood.”
Tawani’s listing went live Monday and says the 2,250-square-foot commercial space, with 1,200 square feet of basement space shared with Mayne Stage, was renovated to maintain its historic integrity and 1930’s-era art deco splendor.
“This neighborhood destination is located steps away from the Morse CTA ‘L’ stop in a high-energy area that is frequented by both residents and tourists,” according to a press release about the location’s availability.
The listing had no price but said the space was available for lease as soon as Oct. 14
