CHICAGO — A police car was hit by gunfire Monday night in Avondale.
At 11:44 p.m., officers were investigating a traffic crash in the 3200 block of West Barry Avenue when someone fired shots and hit their squad car, police said.
The officers weren’t the target, police said, but they were down the street from where someone had fired shots at Spaulding and Barry avenues.
The officers were not inside the car, and neither they nor any other people were wounded.
No one was in custody. An investigation was ongoing.
