CHICAGO — A man attacked two women — biting one of their ears partially off — and was shot by one of them early Wednesday in Bronzeville, police said.

At 2 a.m., the 56-year-old man was inside a home in the 3000 block of South Michigan Avenue with two women when he groped one of them, police said. The woman asked him to stop but the man became “agitated and aggressive,” police said, and he pushed the woman to the ground.

The woman took out a gun from her bag and the man pushed her down, police said. The gun went off, hitting the man in his neck.

The woman ran out of the home and then drove away.

The other woman was still inside the home and the man attacked her, choking her, hitting her and biting off part of one of her ears, police said. She was taken to Mercy Hospital in good condition.

The man was taken to Northwestern Hospital, where his condition was not available but he was listed as “stable,” police said. It was possible he had also been stabbed during the incident, but it wasn’t immediately clear.

No one was in custody.
