DOWNTOWN — A man was robbed while riding the Red Line early Thursday.

At 2:26 a.m., the 23-year-old victim was riding a northbound train and was near the Loop’s underground Lake stop when five men grabbed him, police said. The men stole his money and personal items and got off the train.

Two of the robbers passed by officers at the scene, though, and the victim and a CTA attendant identified them as the thieves, police said.

Officers chased the men and then arrested them.

There were no reported injuries. Charges were pending.
