Women Posing As Rideshare Drivers Hold Up Passengers At Gunpoint Again

The women have committed at least seven similar robberies around the North Side since the end of June.

CHICAGO — Two women who have been posing as rideshare drivers and robbing passengers at gunpoint have struck again.

The women have committed at least seven similar robberies around the North Side since the end of June, according to a Chicago Police community alert. The women pick up victims in a car while posing as rideshare drivers and then rob them, sometimes using a gun.

The robberies happened:

• in the early morning of June 24 in the 700 block of North Larrabee Street
• in the early morning of June 30 in the first block of West Hubbard Street
• in the early morning of July 22 in the 600 block of North Franklin Street
• in the early morning of Aug. 5 in the first block of West Hubbard Street
• in the early morning of Aug. 10 in the 400 block of North Dearborn Street
• in the early morning of Aug. 12 in the 2100 block of North Dayton Street
• in the early morning Friday in the 2300 block of North Ashland Avenue

The robbers were described as two black women who were 20-30 years old, 5-foot-5 to 5-foot-9 and 120-150 pounds, police said.
