LOGAN SQUARE — Looking for last-minute Labor Day plans?
Here are some ideas.
See live music at Fiesta Boricua: The 25th annual Fiesta Boricua “De Bandera a Bandera” will bring loads of live Latin music and a back-to-school carnival to Division Street between Western Avenue and Mozart Street all weekend long. The full lineup is online.
Cheer on luchadores in Unity Park: More than a dozen masked wrestlers, or luchadores, will face off Saturday in a pop-up ring at Unity Park at 2636 N. Kimball Ave. The two-hour rumble kicks off at noon.
Visit Emporium’s dog-themed pop-up: Starting Friday evening, Emporium Logan Square’s pop-up space at 2367 N. Milwaukee Ave. will be transformed into a “doggo play place” courtesy of local rescue One Tail at a Time. Special dog-themed events are planned through Sept. 16.
Catch a DJ set at The Whistler: DJ Greg will be spinning his “feel good” tunes at the cocktail bar at 2421 N. Milwaukee Ave. Saturday evening.
Check out an art show: OK, so this one isn’t in the neighborhood, but Humboldt Park muralist Antonio Beniquez — the one responsible for the giant “Humboldt” mural at Division Street and California Avenue — is one of two dozen artists whose hand-embellished military jackets will be on display Friday evening for an art show at The Westin’s Riverfront Room at 320 N. Dearborn St. The show kicks off at 6 p.m. RSVP on Eventbrite and use the password HART.
