CHICAGO — The Chicago Park District is launching a three-day festival to highlight films about Chicago.
The festival is part of the department’s Onscreen Local Film Showcase, a week-long exhibition of local movies and filmmakers with screenings held across nine parks. The festival, coming at the end of the showcase, will feature even more local films, all of them shown across three screens in Ping Tom Memorial Park.
The three movie screens will center around a campfire where filmmakers and others will talk to attendees about their movies.
The films range in genre and subject: One documentary, “The Exchange,” follows five kids from the South Side as they travel to Germany, while another film is an adaptation of a scene from “MacBeth” set in a Chicago restaurant.
The free festival runs Aug. 30-Sept. 1 at Ping Tom Memorial Park.
